Which Car to Rent in Thessaloniki: A Simple Guide for Every Trip

Most people choosing a rental car do not worry about the price first. They worry about size: "Will everyone fit with the luggage?" and "Will it be comfortable on the road?" Here is a simple way to choose, based on your trip.
For the city and short errands: small and economical
If you mostly drive in Thessaloniki, a small car is the best choice. It parks easily, uses little fuel and handles narrow streets. It suits one or two people with light luggage.
For couples and short getaways: small-to-medium
For Halkidiki, Pieria or a day trip to Meteora you need a bit more boot space and a steadier car on the open road. A small-to-medium hatchback does the job and keeps costs low.
For groups and families: a bigger body
If four of you are travelling with luggage, look at a saloon or a larger model. Count the suitcases, not just the seats: four adults and four bags need real space. Each vehicle page shows the seats and the gearbox.
Manual or automatic?
Manual is usually cheaper. If you are not used to manual cars, or you will drive a lot in traffic, an automatic makes the day easier. Use the filters on the fleet page to see only what suits you.
How to pay less
- Rent for more days. The daily rate drops as the rental gets longer. Check the offer on the vehicle card: one extra day often costs very little.
- Book early. In high season prices rise as the fleet fills up.
- Use a coupon. If you have a code, enter it in the first step, next to the driver's age.
- Choose extras carefully. Add only what you need, such as a child seat or an additional driver.
What to check before you book
Your age, your licence and the deposit that stays at the desk are shown on every vehicle page. Also check the opening hours of the pick-up branch. Our Thessaloniki branch (Olympiados 125) is open Monday to Saturday, 09:00–17:00.
