Renting a car in Thessaloniki: 7 things to check before you book

October 22, 2026 · 1 min read

Renault Clio

Renting a car in Thessaloniki is the easiest way to explore the city, Halkidiki and Northern Greece at your own pace. Before you press "book", check these seven things.

1. Licence and age

Every vehicle has a minimum driver age and a required licence category, shown on the vehicle page before you start booking. Bring your licence and an ID or passport.

2. How the deposit works

A deposit is usually paid at pick-up, separately from the rental. On some vehicles you can choose deposit insurance instead of leaving cash or a card.

3. Mileage

Ask whether the rental includes unlimited kilometres or a daily limit. For a Halkidiki trip it matters.

4. Insurance and cancellation

Check what the insurance covers and when you can cancel. At Rental Now, with Premium insurance the booking can be cancelled up to 48 hours before pick-up.

5. Pick-up and return hours

Book times inside opening hours. Outside them an extra fee may apply, so the final price is shown in detail before you pay.

6. How the rental is charged

The rental is charged per started 24 hours. Keeping the vehicle a few hours longer can add another day. Longer rentals get discounts.

7. A final price without hidden fees

The final price should clearly show rental, extras, insurance and any fees. If something is missing, ask before you pay.
